One of the most popular images on this site is the birthday princess card I designed for a family in 2009. In fact, a search lead this new customer to me and when she saw that image, that is what she wanted for her own little girl.
This design started with a photo of the little girl in her dress up clothes, sitting on the floor, much like the other. It wasn’t quite as sharp as it needed to be, because it was taken on a cell phone but I was able to still work with it. The first thing I had to do was remove her from that background, which was especially tricky where the transparent fabric of her skirt overlaid the carpet.
The mom knew she wanted something opulent and royal, but not Disney, so part of my service was providing a large selection of approximately ten background photo options, with her daughter superimposed over it just to get a feel for what would work. She chose this photo and we discussed using the same lily arrangement as the other image, and a few butterflies with sparkles. I gave her two final options to choose from with different recommended fonts, and then we designed the background text with details. My long time and beloved printing vendor produced 30 of these as 5×7 postcards with a gloss finish and provided white envelopes so she could send them out to the invitees.
